The South Korean company Samsung was originally founded by Lee Byung-Chull as a grocery producer and delivery business in 1938. The company initially traded noodles and other products produced in Taegu and exported them to nearby cities and provinces in China. During its journey to becoming the world’s second largest tech company, boasting a profit of $41 billion in 2018, it has faced trials, accusations and setbacks. Following the Korean War in the early 1950s, Byung-Chull expanded the grocery trading business into textiles, opening the largest woollen mill in Korea.
However, it wasn’t until 1969 that Samsung entered the electronics industry, opening electronic-focused divisions within the company. With the proper research, management, and leadership, Samsung has become one of the biggest global brands. Today this prestigious company is the global leader and an award-winning innovator producing smarter gadgets every day.
